Cooperation Between Türkiye and Hungary in Energy Deepens

 

Türkiye, which has recently signed strategic energy export agreements in its region and implemented them through BOTAŞ, keeps strengthening its hand in the field of energy.

Breaking new ground in August 2023 by striking a deal for the export of natural gas via pipelines to a European country which the country does not share a border with, Türkiye’s BOTAŞ, continues to contribute to Europe's security of energy supply.

Strategic Cooperation

President ERDOĞAN visited the Hungarian capital for the 6th meeting of the Turkey-Hungary High Level Strategic Cooperation Council and held official talks. Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan BAYRAKTAR accompanied the President during his visit.

Minister BAYRAKTAR held meetings with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade SZIJJARTÓ and Minister of Energy Csaba LANTOS.

Within the scope of the visit, a memorandum of understanding was inked between BOTAŞ and MVM, the corresponding state companies of Türkiye and Hungary, to increase cooperation in the field of natural gas.

The memorandum of understanding signed by BOTAŞ Chairman and General Manager Abdulvahit FİDAN and MVM Company CEO Mátrai Károly TAMÁS covers the possible partnerships of the two countries in the field of natural gas trade, cooperation in the field of underground natural gas storages and LNG terminals, and the use of hydrogen in natural gas pipelines.
