BOTAŞ Exports Natural Gas to Romania

BOTAŞ continues to take firm steps towards the goals determined in line with the new vision of the Century of Türkiye. BOTAŞ, which has taken giant steps towards becoming an energy center, is adding new countries to the energy ring in the field of natural gas exports with the aim of ensuring the energy supply security of our country and Europe. Aiming to become one of our country's top ten exporters within three years, BOTAŞ has inked a significant agreement with OMV Petrom, one of the biggest energy companies in the region. At the ceremony held on September 25, 2023, BOTAŞ Chairman and General Manager Burhan ÖZCAN and OVM Petrom Executive Board Member Franck Neel signed the historic agreement.

Within the scope of the agreement, which allows the supply of natural gas up to 4 million m3 per day and will expire on March 31, 2025, natural gas exports from Türkiye to Romania via pipelines will start on October 1, 2023.

In addition to natural gas trade, the parties also agreed to develop their cooperation in the fields of transmission, storage, production and green energy technologies.

BOTAŞ, which has successfully concluded important agreements for the export of natural gas to the countries in the region such as Greece, Bulgaria and Hungary, is increasing its contribution to the security and diversity of energy supplies in neighboring markets and in Europe by including Romania among the countries to which it supplies gas. BOTAŞ, the guarantor of our country's energy supply security, will continue to negotiate with several countries and companies for new export agreements and to proudly carry the title of “Energy of Türkiye and Europe” with its successful energy diplomacy by establishing route and resource diversification.
