Social Responsibility Project by BOTAŞ, an Area of 1,200,000 m2 Is Being Afforested
BOTAŞ, making a name for itself by realizing significant projects in line with the National Energy and Mining Policy of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, continues to create awareness with its social responsibility and environmental projects as well.
Cooperation for Nature
Within the framework of the protocol signed among BOTAŞ, General Directorate of Forestry and South Stream Transport BV pursuant to TurkStream Project; tree planting operations have begun in BOTAŞ Silivri Operations Directorate, Tuz Gölü Operations Directorate and afforestation areas in Tekirdağ for 200,000 m2, 100,000 m2 and 900,000 m2 of land, respectively.
115 Million Trees on an Area of 1.2 million m2
Within the scope of the project, a total of 115,000 trees will be planted; 10,000 of which in BOTAŞ Tuz Gölü Operations Directorate, 20,000 of which in Silivri Operations Directorate, and 85,000 of which in afforestation areas in Tekirdağ. Currently, afforestation works have been completed to a great extent and the remaining part will be completed during the rest of the year. The planted trees will be maintained by the General Directorate of Forestry for 5 years.
Tuz Gölü Area Is Coming to Life
The planting of approximately 8000 saplings of 11 different species has started in April, in a 100,000 m2 area in Tuz Gölü Operations Directorate. Planting of the saplings, most of which has already been made since April, is aimed to be finished by the end of the year.
Within the scope of the afforestation works, saplings were planted and certified in the name of every single BOTAŞ employee and their family members.
This project is considered as a pilot project, and in accordance with the results to be obtained, works for the afforestation of the all suitable sections of the concerned areas will continue.
