Cooperation Protocol Signed Between BOTAŞ and AFAD

 

On December 29, 2020 “Cooperation Protocol on Disaster and Emergency Activities'' was signed between BOTAŞ and Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).

BOTAŞ General Manager Burhan ÖZCAN, AFAD President Mehmet GÜLLÜOĞLU and BOTAŞ and AFAD officials attended the signing ceremony held at AFAD Headquarters.

''We Have Reached 22 Thousand Kilometers Natural Gas Network Size''

BOTAS General Manager Burhan Özcan, in his speech at the signing ceremony said that, from Türkiye's east to west, north to south about 22 thousand kilometers of gas network size is reached.

Noting that citizens' access to natural gas has increased significantly over the years, and they have developed measures regarding the safety of natural gas over time, Özcan said, "As a result of the risk analyzes we have conducted, now we have the opportunity to intervene remotely without going to the problematic point in case of an emergency or distress."

“We Brought Natural Gas to 581 Districts This Year”

Stating that they will continue to support the natural gas system by following all kinds of technological changes closely, Özcan said:

“We have supplied natural gas to all 81 provinces of Türkiye. As of yesterday, we brought natural gas to 7 more districts, we brought natural gas to 581 districts in total.  The corresponding portion of the population is 17 million 500 thousand subscribers and population equivalent is close to 70 million. Recently, a protocol was signed between Azerbaijan Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. All threats and possible risks in this region are evaluated at the engineering stage and the management of the process in the lines is carried out by our teams. This is a huge advantage for us.”

Energy Lines are in a Vital Position in the Development of Countries

Underlining the importance of reaching better positions in natural gas and oil supply as a country, Dr. Güllüoğlu said “BOTAŞ stands at a globally critical place not only to Türkiye’s but also Europe’s energy line just as Russia and Central Asia does to energy supply.”

In his speech at the ceremony AFAD President Mehmet Güllüoğlu said "We are already in the service of Türkiye in case of disasters and emergency situations in all areas of life. Today's protocol includes increasing the capacity of both institutions in this sense. I would like to express my good wishes."

Following their speeches, "Cooperation Protocol on Disaster and Emergency Activities" was signed between BOTAŞ General Manager Burhan Özcan and AFAD President Mehmet Güllüoğlu.
